Vancouver – 2015

I’m from Brazil and for a while I wanted to leave. My idea was to move to Miami (of course! American dream), but wouldn’t be possible because of legal issues. So, I started to research and decided for Vancouver, Canada. Still not easy, takes time, so I decided to go for vacation to know the city better.

I decided to go by myself and do whatever I wanted: 2 weeks English course, a half marathon and U2 concert.

Vancouver Public Library

Of course I spent some time visiting the Library. It’s just amazing! The building is so beautiful and it’s a big Library. A dream for book lovers!

This is one of the touristic points of Vancouver. It’s a cool neighborhood, lots of bars, restaurants and tattoo shops.

Vancouver Aquarium

The Vancouver Aquarium is very beautiful, lots of cool attractions. I love this Aquarium because all the animals are rescued, they treat the animals and keep them.

The aquabus is just a funny transportation. I took it to go to Granville Island (public market), just for fun.

Capilano Suspension Bridge

I didn’t have courage to cross the bridge (I did it last year). But is a pretty park, lots of green areas, activities, cafes and gift shops.

I went to Seattle for the day. I always wanted to go and I also wanted to check out the outlet mall. I didn’t really like Seattle. After Vancouver is difficult to like Seattle. There is not much to do and I found a little dirty.

The famous Whistler. Everybody loves Whistler. It was my first time seeing snow. Very cool village, specially for ski lovers, of course. The village was a big part of the winter Olympic games in 2010.

This was my adventure in 2015. I have to say that travel by myself was the best experience of my life. I had a very basic English and I had to talk to people because there was nobody to help me, I made friends, I went to bars by myself, I did everything that I wanted. It was a victory that I’m very proud of.

And I loved so much that I’ve lived in Vancouver for 2 years, just got my permanent residency and I plan to stay 🙂

Camino Island

I just finished this book. It was my second from John Grisham and I really like his style.

Camino Island is about the theft of Fitzgerald manuscripts from a Library and it’s investigation. All the characters are book writers, book stores owners, books collectors, first editions, manuscripts, publishing. Well, is a book for book lovers 🙂

It’s an interesting story and the end is not predictable, which I love. Although I expected a different end, but I still liked. I finished the book with a lot of ideas. I love to read books that open my mind and give me ideas for life. Thanks John Grisham!

Porto de Galinhas, Brazil – 2007

I want to start the travel category with this beautiful beach.

Porto de Galinhas is an amazing beach, just 63Km from Recife, Brazil. I’ve been there a while ago, 2007 and unfortunately I don’t have so many pictures, But I needed to show what I have. A super blue ocean, warm and crystal water, you can literally swim with the fishes. The food around is really good, fresh fish, obviously, and really cold beer. The atmosphere is wonderful!

Beatiful palm trees

My sister and I again
Some fishes
Some more…
On a “boat”

I can’t wait to go back!

The Last Child

The Last Child was the last book that I’ve read. And I absolutely loved!

I didn’t know this author, one of my friends read before and passed to me.

The story is about Johnny, a 13 years old boy, looking for his twin sister that disappeared 1 year ago. His family is broken and nobody in the city believes that Alyssa is still alive. But Johnny can’t give up. He has a loyal friend, Jack, who is determined to help Johnny to find his sister and nothing can’t stop them. Detective Hunt wants to help the family and is always around, but he didn’t know how far Johnny could go to find his sister. After a long journey and lot of trouble, what they find out is unbelievable and scary! A big revelation!

What I loved about this book is that is not predictable at all. The end is completely unexpected. It’s a big investigation, very well written and there is no gaps in the story. I was so into this book that it was difficult to start the next. I will definitely read other books from John Hart.

The running begins

I always saw people running and thought: “What a healthy life! They look happy and free!” Then I had a traumatic experience on January 1, 2011. In February I started running. It was something to focus on and forget the emotional pain.

I started by myself, researching everything on the internet and running magazines. It was very grateful when I ran my first 30 minutes without walking. I was so happy!

Then I registered for my first race and I started training seriously, 3 times a week. It was just 4K, but I wanted to do well.

The race happened on April 17, 2011, the day that my mom died in 1998. Of course I ran thinking of her and I thought it would make her proud if I finish.

And I did. What an amazing feeling! It was just 4K, but for someone that couldn’t run at all it was rewarding. I wanted to cry and I will never forget the feeling. I still have the t-shirt.

And I didn’t stop. Many people saying that I was crazy because sometimes I wouldn’t go out or drink, specially when I had training or race next day. But the important people always supported me.

It was just the beginning!
